Rebecca Green

Location: Rowsley   /  Genre: Silver Jewellery

Artist Statement

Using an ancient technique which literally breaks the mould each time, Rebecca Green creates tiny one-of-a-kind solid silver sculptures that can be worn as jewellery.
Using the lost wax casting technique, each piece of Rebecca’s jewellery starts off as a small piece of wax which is meticulously crafted by hand into a tiny sculpture. The wax sculpture is then encased in a special plaster and at high temperature the wax melts away and is “lost” to leave a temporary mould into which molten silver is poured. Once it has cooled the mould is broken open to retrieve the solid silver sculpture. Thanks to this special technique, every single one of Rebecca’s "lost wax treasures" is completely unique.
All of Rebecca’s jewellery is designed and hand crafted in her workshop, situated in the beautiful and historic surrounds of Caudwell’s Mill at Rowsley where she also holds classes for people to come and make their own silver jewellery.
Drawing inspiration from the local landscape and British wildlife and often creating nature themed pendants and sculpted animal portraits, Rebecca works on her own jewellery collections whilst also making precious and unique bespoke pieces that will be treasured for years to come.
