Artist Statement

My work is inspired by the landscape, ancient woods, flowers and vegetation. My work starts by recording places, people and nature with sketches, notes and found objects from the countryside and woodlands. I build up paintings with many layers exploring expressive marks, delighting in paint, colour and texture, loosing images and re-finding them to record the seasons, weather, time and the experience they evoke.
