Location: Darley Dale   /  Genre: Textile mixed media

Artist Statement

Heather Arbon Textile Art, inspired by nature.

My ‘Hedgerow’ pictures in fabric and stitch are inspired by the Derbyshire countryside. Created by trapping various materials such as fabric scraps, threads and dried organic fragments between fabric layers on a painted background. Extra flowers and details are then added using free machine embroidery.
I also make hand stitched sketch books with covers made from specially printed fabrics featuring details from my work.
Some of my new work in botanical (eco) contact prints has been mounted and used to make a range of sketchbooks.
My original pictures and prints are presented in standard size mounts or canvas frames, so they will fit a standard ‘off the shelf’ frame of your choice.
My delicate looking dragonfly and butterfly brooches are made in free motion machine embroidery worked on soluble fabric.
