Artist Statement

I am an observational artist; that is, I try and paint what I see. My first love is portraiture, but I also paint landscapes, still life, and the occasional animal. My usual mediums are oils/mixed media, pastels, watercolour and pencil. Most of my portraits are painted from life, but when this is not possible, a good quality photograph must sometimes suffice. I tend to paint landscapes from sketches and/or my own photographs, occasionally working outdoors, when the weather is warmer. I will be drawing on-the-spot pencil portraits at Holymoorside again, this year. Do come along and watch or even better, have one done!
