Artist Statement

My paintings are inspired by a connection to the power of the natural environment, I am influenced by areas of remote rugged wilderness and attracted by sublime, dramatic light which stimulates me continually.
I emotionally engage with the environment, taking sketches, walks and absorbing what I see, think and feel, this is then translated into paintings, where I explore how my expressive painting process can capture the inner energy and essence of the subject matter in a way that evokes beauty and wonder in a series of exposed moments where my thoughts and feelings are captured in a painterly manner which the viewer can then experience and interpret and add their own visual narrative.
