Artist Statement

I aim to include the sensory experience of being a climber and a walker into my work. The gritty, raw, edgy tones and textures of the Peak District and beyond are uppermost in my mind and just as the landscape can be unresolved and ever changing by our weather I hope to capture some of that in my collographic prints and paintings.
My 2D work is often mixed media, starting with layers of collage, texture, acrylic, pastel and charcoal or it may be collographic printing where shapes and textures are allowed to dissolve and take on a character of their own during the printing process so every print is different and unique.
I work from observation and in all weathers and particularly like strong shapes, dynamic lines and energy.
