Artist Statement

Karen has illustrated over 50 books throughout her career and was also a drawn animator for Cosgrove Hall Films. Programmes include Dangermouse, Duckula, the BFG and Rainbow.
In 2000 she studied Art Psychotherapy at the University of Sheffield after which she worked in cancer care and mental health.
Upon retiring Karen decided to become a fine artist, experimenting with various media - her favourite being Aqua Oils. Currently her main interest lies in painting wildlife for which she uses her own (and her son's) photographs for reference. Her aim is to raise awareness of the need to protect our natural world, thus a percentage of money raised from sales is donated to wildlife charities.
