Richard Knox

Location: Glossop   /  Genre: Monoprint

Artist Statement

Born in West Yorkshire in 1980, Richard Knox is an artist, musician and print maker, living and working in Glossop, Derbyshire.

His artistic practice focuses predominantly on abstract monoprinting, often using an instinctive, expressive mixed-media approach that leans on a gestural technique to create textured pieces that appear both stark and detailed in equal measures.

Richard’s work has also featured on numerous album sleeves and gig posters over the years.

He founded the independent record label Gizeh Records in 2003 and has made music and toured extensively across Europe since then under many guises, including Glissando, A-Sun Amissa and Shield Patterns. Through the label, Richard has built relationships and networks with artists and musicians across the world and the label recently released its 100th record.

In 2021 Richard co-founded KIN.DER, a screen printing and creative studio that he currently runs and works from in Glossop.
