Artist Statement

Jo Toft, ceramicist
Living in the Peak District, I get much of my inspiration from the form, colours and textures of the natural world. As I hand-build my ceramic sculptures, each piece develops its own unique features and characteristics. I use glazes and natural oxides to create colour and enhance texture. Fired at stoneware temperatures, my work can withstand the outside elements.
