Artist Statement

The simplicity of nature is a constant source of inspiration for Michael’s paintings, capturing the shifting light, tumbling clouds, a crashing wave and the tranquillity of open spaces. Michael’s aim is to capture the essence of a distant view, capturing the way light interacts with the landscape and nature.
Travelling around the UK coastline is a great love and inspiration to Michael, taking in as much as possible of the ever changing landscape.
Michael likes to work from memory, this gives him more freedom and expression and the ability to work using bold open brushstrokes alongside palette knife mark making achieving rich textured paintings and creating more energy and emotion.
