Artist Statement

Margaret, aka Inspired Textiles, utilises the alchemy of chemicals and tannins in leaves which, when heated, transfer their shape and colours to fabric or paper, leaving their own unique fingerprint. There are no inks, paints or artificial dyes used. She loves the serendipitous nature of this botanical contact printing technique and, when coupled with the subtle colours of natural dyes, creates a unique range of substrates for stitch, silk scarves, covered books and 2D pieces. She also embellishes her work with slow stitching using naturally dyed threads.
