Jude Shore

Location: Beeley, Matlock   /  Genre: Textiles

Artist Statement

Jude Shore is a contemporary textile artist and fine felt maker based in the Peak District. Her work is inspired by forms and textures in the natural world; she loves pebbles and the sea but takes much of her inspiration from the flora and fauna, colours and ever changing light found in the wide open spaces of the Peak District. Jude uses felt making, together with hand and free drawn machine embroidery techniques, to create unique surfaces from which she makes wall hung art works, as well as a range of individually designed, sculptural felted vessels and accessories.
Jude is conscious of the impact her work has on the environment, she uses sustainable fabrics and fibres and tries where possible to reuse, recycle or repurpose many of the other materials used her work. This adds to the individuality of each piece.
Jude is a member of International Feltmakers Association and belongs to textile exhibiting groups Art Through Textiles and Ecostitchers.

Jude is looking forward to exhibiting alongside the other members of Ecostitchers during Derbyshire Open Arts Festival. She is using issues of climate change to explore their 2023 theme ‘No Rain, No Flowers’ to showcase an exciting body of high quality, innovative textile art at Beeley Village Hall.
